Turf Tyre Applications

Our range of Turf and Lawn Tyres has grown considerably over the past few years. We have tried to choose the best tyres available for all the different types of ground-care applications. We offer a great choice of tyre brands and patterns to suit all requirements and budgets. Some of our most popular turf tyre brands include BKT, Duro, Wanda, Carlisle, Maxxis, CST, Kenda and Deli. The tyres we sell are available for all types of turf equipment and machinery. From small golf buggies and golf carts, through to the larger turf tractors used for sports fields, councils and country estates. We cover all requirements for ride on mower / garden tractor tyres for domestic and residential use as well as grass cutting machinery tyres and green keeping equipment tyres for commercial applications. from golf greens to steep banked gardens, we have turf tyres to suit. If you have any questions relating to your turf of lawn tyre purchase, please contact our team of advisors, who are always happy to help.

Smooth & Rib Tyres

We have smooth turf tyres for the most sensitive of areas e.g. golf course greens and cricket grounds, we have rib tyres that offer a little more lateral grip and clear-out for areas that may be a little more demanding, but still need to protect the surface.

Chevron & S-Block Turf Tyres

We also stock a wide range of Chevron block and the newer "S" block turf tyre patterns. These tyres are ideal for general lawn mower and turf use as they offer decent grip levels, without causing too much damage to the ground. We also have many of these block and rib patterns in armoured variants that are much more resistant to punctures and damage in harsh and difficult conditions. Look for versions that say "Aramid", "Armaturf" or "K-Shield" on our product listing titles to choose these more durable options.

Lug & Tractive Turf Tyres

Our ranges of Chevron Lug and Tractive turf tyres give customers the option to sacrifice a little in terms of surface care in exchange for much more grip in muddier, wet or slippery conditions. Tractive or tractor tread type patterns give the most grip and even though they do imprint into the surface to gain the extra grip, the ground can often recover easily. Lug tyres are ideal when turf machinery is being used on uneven or boggy ground.

Golf Buggy & Golf Cart Tyres

We now stock all popular sizes of golf buggy and golf kart tyres. These tyres have been designed specifically for use on golf courses as they offer the best compromise between grip and protection for the ground.

Turf Tyre Sizes

Finding the correct tyre for your Ride-on Lawn Mower, Golf Kart or Turf Machinery involves knowing the correct tyre size. The size is usually written on the sidewall of the tyre and can be displayed in a number of different ways. We have detailed an explanation of how the different methods of measuring the tyre can be written below:

Imperial Tyre Sizes - e.g. "18x8.50-8"

This measures the size of the tyres in inches. The first number denotes the overall diameter of the tyre which in the example above is 18". The middle number is the overall width of the tyre which is 8.5" in the example above. The last number is the diameter of the rim (wheel) in inches. In this example it would be 8"

Metric Tyre Sizes - e.g. "120 / 85 - 8"

This is the newer, 'metric' measurement where the first number is again the width of the tyre, but is measured in mm. In this case 120mm. The second digit represents the tyre sidewall profile (height) as a percentage of the width. In this example the sidewall height would be 85% of 120mm (approx. 102mm). The last digit is again the diameter of the rim (wheel), still measured in inches. In this example it would be 8"

Tubeless (TL) & Tube Type (TT) Tyres

Tyres tend to be either designed to work with an inner tube or without. Often this will be marked on the tyre sidewall as to which type of fitment the tyre has been designed for. 'Tubeless' (TL) means that the tyre has been designed to fit on a rim without the use of an inner tube. A valve is inserted into the rim that creates the seal and allows the tyre to be inflated.

'Tube Type' (TT) means that the tyre has been designed for use with an Inner tube. The internal construction of the tyre is usually a lot smoother so that the tube doesn't experience unnecessary friction or chafing inside the tyre.

Although it is possible to put inner tubes in a tubeless tyre, it isn't always advisable. The extra friction and wear that can be endured in this situation can cause premature failure of the inner tube, which in turn could lead to premature failure of the tyre. Tube type tyres can fit on most rims, but if changing from a tube type tyre to a tubeless, it is not just the tyre type that needs checking as it also necessary that the wheel itself is capable of being used with a tubeless tyre.
